Controlling the Regenerative Braking Level

Regenerative braking is a technology that converts kinetic energy into electrical energy during deceleration and charges the high-voltage battery. The driver can enjoy driving and increase driving energy efficiency by using the paddle shifter on the steering wheel.

How to adjust the regenerative braking level

The intensity of regenerative braking on Kia's EV models can be adjusted from 0 to 3 levels using the paddle shifter on the steering wheel.

  • Pulling the left paddle shifter increases the intensity of regenerative braking by one level and increases the deceleration of the vehicle.
  • Pulling the right paddle shifter decreases the intensity of regenerative braking by one level and decreases the deceleration of the vehicle.
  • The intensity of regenerative braking can be set from 0 to 3 levels using the paddle shifter and you can check the level on your instrument panel.
  • If you pull and hold the left paddle shifter for more than 0.5 seconds, the regenerative braking intensity will increase to maximum, and if you continue to hold it, the car will come to a complete stop.
