Out in the dry, desert heat of the Mojave backcountry, there’s no telling what challenges lurk ahead. For some, it would be daunting. But for Alyssa Roenigk and Sabrina Howells, it’s all part of the fun. Pushing themselves to the absolute limit is what keeps them coming back to this rigorous competition: the Rebelle Rally.
This all-women, off-road navigational challenge has teams covering 1,500 miles in just eight days with only a paper map and a compass. A senior writer for ESPN, and an LA-based actor/musician, respectively, Roenigk and Howells know firsthand what it’s like to pave their own way and challenge convention. The duo call themselves the Telluriders, after their trusty vehicle. And with their tenacity, determination, and off-road capabilities, the Telluriders crossed the finish line coming in 2nd place overall in the X-Cross Class, proving their unstoppable spirit.
