Ambient temperatures below 25°C can adversely affect how quickly your electric vehicle charges at the more powerful public charging stations. That’s why our latest EV’s are equipped with pre-conditioning technology that prepares the battery, bringing it to the right temperature before you reach a DC station.

This function automatically activates when you select a DC Station to navigate to, from the vehicle infotainment system. With this intuitive technology, electric car charging has never been simpler.

What factors influence the charging time of an electric car? What factors influence the charging time of an electric car?

Electric car charging times can be impacted by various factors, such as temperature, battery condition and how much charge the battery currently has.

There are also factors surrounding your specific model and charger that will impact charging times, like the size of the battery, the maximum charging rate of the vehicle, the power of the charger (e.g. a 7kW charger vs. a 50kW charger) and the maximum charging rate of the charge point. For example, reaching full charge can take between 18 minutes and 6/7 hours, depending on whether you use an AC or DC charger and the kW.

Do different types of electric car charging stations affect charging times? Do different types of electric car charging stations affect charging times?

Yes, different charging stations may offer different types of EV chargers, which will impact the charging time. Public charging stations will use either slow, fast or ultra-rapid chargers.

Can I use a regular household outlet to charge my electric car, and how long will it take? Can I use a regular household outlet to charge my electric car, and how long will it take?

Yes, you can use a regular household outlet to charge an electric car, but it will take much longer than an EV charger. Charging via a domestic plug can take up to 24 hours. We only recommend using a household outlet in an emergency.

Is there a difference in charging times between AC and DC charging methods? Is there a difference in charging times between AC and DC charging methods?

Yes, AC and DC charging provide different charging speeds. AC charging is slower, so is recommended for long-stay or overnight parking. DC charging is much faster and is ideal for topping up our EV on the move.

AC charging takes approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes to reach full charge, while DC charging can charge an EV battery to 80% in just 18 minutes.
