Kia Triumphs at iF Design Awards

Kia has triumphed at the 2024 iF awards, taking home multiple coveted awards spanning five separate brand products and design elements. In the biggest success of the event, the Kia EV9 won the ‘Gold’ award.

With 10,800 entries from 72 countries, the iF Design Awards are one of the most prestigious and highly contended design competitions across the globe. Judged by a panel of renowned design experts, nominations go through a rigorous selection process before the winner of each category is crowned.

Receiving this recognition for the EV9 is a great honour, as we at Kia are constantly pushing to break new ground and create a global impact through innovative automotive design.

A Golden Moment for the EV9

The Kia EV9 was the star of the show at the iF Design Awards, taking home the highly sought-after Gold award. Presented only to the top 75 designs worldwide, the ‘Gold’ accolade represents a huge achievement and an exciting celebration of the global impact of the EV9’s design.

Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design, commented on the win: “Receiving this award is a recognition of the dedication and commitment of countless members of our team of designers and engineers; and highlights our drive to impact the industry and market with compelling, meaningful design.”

Opposites United: A winning philosophy

The ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy aims to capture a blend of nature and modernity, taking inspiration from the contrasts and synergies found between these two opposing concepts. In the Kia EV9 , this philosophy is personified in daring and assertive geometry, contrasted with sleek and smooth contours, resulting in a striking and futuristic vehicle.

The EV9’s exterior immediately commands attention with signature features like the Digital Tiger Face, dual panoramic sunroof, GT-Line alloy wheels, and stand-out LED headlamps. While exuding confidence and style, the vehicle design doesn’t compromise on practicality or driver enjoyment .

The iF judges panel praised the overall design: “The Kia EV9 expands the aesthetic possibilities of a large SUV while advancing its functional performance”.

Inside, the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) affords an ultra-spacious, flat-floor cabin that is ergonomically optimised for ultimate comfort and flexibility. The second-row swivel seats are a highlight, enabling passengers to create their own social interactive space.

Speaking about the EV9, the iF judging panel commented, : “Contemporary form language makes other large SUVs look old-fashioned, while swivelling second-row seats and a variety of smaller functional solutions make life on board more social! Who said sustainable design can’t be exciting?”

Pushing boundaries in automotive design

While the EV9 achieving the esteemed ‘Gold’ award status was a huge highlight of the event, Kia’s success didn’t end there.

Kia received recognition for four other initiatives spanning physical, digital and interactive design projects. These included the EV9’s ‘Ki’ infotainment system, the branding for Kia’s ’80 years of movement’, the ‘Windows of Inspiration’ trade fair booth design, and the interactive media experience, ‘Kia EV Unplugged Ground’.

Gaining such recognition across five separate design elements goes a long way in demonstrating the power and importance of design across Kia as a brand.

Step into the future with us as we continue to push boundaries and set new standards in design, connectivity, and sustainability.
