How Do I Swivel the Seats in My Kia EV9?
How do I adjust the swivel seats in my EV9?
Swivel car seats are designed to rotate, whether to ease vehicle access or turn cars into more social and functional spaces. Rotating car seats can quickly create cosy spots in a vehicle to chat with other passengers, giving them room to enjoy infotainment features, share family activities, or engage in conversation while taking a break from driving.
The award-winning Kia EV9
comes with a variety of interior features designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of both drivers and passengers. This includes swivel seats for 2nd-row passengers in the 6-seater EV9 GT-Line S, perfect for rest stops, camping trips, or taking some time to charge your devices. It even comes with a console sliding tables if you want to sit with a book or laptop.
So, how exactly do the EV9’s swivel car seats work? Which seats can be swivelled, and how can passengers do so safely? In this article, we look at how to swivel the seats in a Kia EV9.
Adjusting EV9 swivel seats
The EV9’s swivel car seats, available as an option on GT-Line S, offer a lot of potential for socialising and relaxing in your electric car. However, it’s important to do so safely to avoid damaging the vehicle or risking injury to passengers.
The first thing to know about operating the EV9’s rotating car seats is that this should only be done when:
- The vehicle is stationary
- The 2nd-row door closest to the seat is open
Having passengers facing directions other than forward while the vehicle is in motion could result in serious injuries in the event of an accident. The seats should also be locked in place before starting the vehicle.
Before trying to make the car seats swivel, take some time to look under and around them in case there are any loose items in the foot areas. Any unattended items could interfere with the swivel mechanisms, so make sure these areas are clear.
When you know which 2nd-row seat you want to rotate, open the rear door closest to it. Next, make sure the front and 2nd-row seats are upright.
You will find the swivel seat lever at the bottom of the seat. It should turn towards the door. Pull the lever and rotate the car seat either 90° towards the open door or 180° towards the 3rd-row seats. Keep turning until the orientation becomes locked in place.
Once you have finished turning the seat, gently rock the seat from side to side to make sure it is fully secured. The door can also be closed at this point, though you should first check to make sure the 2nd-row passenger will not get their arms or legs caught in the door.
After using the EV9 swivel car seats
Once you have finished using the seats, it is important to return them to their original position before starting the car.
Pull the lever, as before, and rotate the car seat in the opposite direction to what you did previously. Keep turning the seat until it is back in its forward-facing position, rocking it back and forth to make sure it is locked in place.
Remember, unexpected injuries may occur from having passengers in rear or side-facing positions when the vehicle is in motion. If the seats are not locked in place, they could also cause injury in the event of sudden braking.
Kia EV9 Interior Seats
The EV9’s seats are also designed to maximise cargo space. Both the 2nd and 3rd-row seats can fold down easily for additional cargo. The 3rd row even features automatic folding headrests, making it easier to fold the seats away when needed.
For added convenience, many features of the EV9’s interior seats can be controlled via the vehicle’s infotainment system, including the climate controls. Drivers will also receive an alert when a seat’s position changes, an ideal feature for drivers traveling with children.
