Shutting Off the Engine During Driving Emergencies
How to shut off the engine during driving emergencies
If an emergency situation arises, such as a fire or brake failure, you cannot drive normally. In this case, immediately stop the engine and pull over to a safe place.
There are two ways to turn off the engine in an emergency: ○ Press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 2 seconds. ○ Press the ENGINE START/STOP button 3 times within 3 seconds.
This emergency engine shut-off procedure applies to electric vehicles as well.
Cautions
The emergency engine shut-off is intended for emergency use only, as using it in other situations may be dangerous.
In case of sudden engine shutdown, maintain continuous pressure on the brake and avoid multiple stepping.
Using the electronic parking brake (EPB) for emergency braking will trigger a warning sound, illuminate the brake warning light on the instrument panel, and may result in a longer braking distance than normal.
If the engine turns off while driving, safely coast to a stop in a secure place, considering the risk of a secondary accident.
