DRIVE WiSE technologies

  • Developed as part of efforts to improve safety, DRIVE WiSE is designed to help all the drivers enjoy driving and live life to the fullest by providing a better level of security and driving pleasure. Discover below the key features that make your car smarter and safer.

Driving Assist

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)

Warning signals and automatic braking if you don't react help avoid or mitigate an accident. A radar on the car's front bumper and camera on the windscreen detect potential dangers in the car's path, including pedestrians and cars.

  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

The Forward Collision Warning system anticipates the potential for colliding with the vehicle in front, providing the driver with audio and visual warnings if the car in front slows down suddenly, helping to avoid a head-on collision. The warning draws the driver’s attention to the threat before engaging FCA to help bring the car to a safe halt.

  • Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BSW)

Eliminate areas you can't see with Blind-Spot Collision Warning. This smart technology feature monitors blind spots and visually alerts you in the side-view mirror if another vehicle enters a blind spot.

  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

The Lane Departure Warning provides audio and visual warnings from the screen, alerting the driver if they stray out of lane unintentionally.

  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)

No need to worry about drifting out of your lane. The Lane Keeping Assist alerts you and even steers you back into place to keep you exactly where you need to be.

  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC)

Smart Cruise Control uses a radar sensor at the front of the car to monitor the distance to vehicles ahead. If the predetermined safe distance is not being maintained, the system will reduce the speed, and even stop the car, until the vehicle ahead proceeds.

  • Highway Driving Assist (HDA)

Highway Driving Assist will utilize Kia’s radar and LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging radar) systems to interpret lane markings, allowing the car to stay in its lane and switch into others to overtake or change road. This comprehensive system removes the necessity for drivers to use the steering wheel, indicators or acceleration and brake pedals in many situations, while displaying key information on the LCD head-up display (HUD)

  • Lane Following Assist (LFA)

Lane Following Assist tracks the vehicle in front during high traffic conditions, and identifies appropriate spaces in other lanes to move in to safely and gain more ground in heavy congestion. The system uses external sensors to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front at all times, and only maneuvers when safe spaces are available.

Parking Assist

  • Parking Assist-Perpendicular Reverse (PA-PDR)

    * Parking Assist-Parallel (PA-PRL): PA-PRL utilizes a network utilizes ultra sonic sensors to monitor the surrounding environment and, enabling the car to park itself in parallel or perpendicular spaces with minimal driver input. Whilst performing the maneuver, any potential hazards, such as pedestrians or other cars hidden in the driver’s blind spot, are detected and accounted for.

    * Parking Distance Warning-Forward (PDW-F): This system uses ultrasonic sensors mounted on the front and rear bumpers to warn of any obstacles when maneuvering into tight spaces for safe and confident parking.

  • Around View Monitor (AVM)

At speeds below 20 km/h, the AVM combines four wide angle images (taken from cameras at the front, rear and sides of the vehicle) to give you a bird's eye view of the space around you.

  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)

You’ll have no nasty surprises when backing out of a parking space or driveway. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert system warns of any cross traffic in the lane you’re entering.

Available only with Blind-Spot Collision Warning option.

Visibility Assist

  • High Beam Assist (HBA)

High Beam Assist senses the varying light sources around the car, from oncoming vehicles or streetlamps, and automatically controls the high beam function to provide the best possible visibility – crucially, without blinding other road users.

  • Low Beam Assist-Dynamic (LBA-D)

Low Beam Assist-Dynamic system provides more accurate illumination of the road ahead by turning in the same direction as the steering wheel, lighting up more of the road ahead to make driving safer at nighttime or in low visibility conditions.

* Package features, names, and functions will differ according to region and vehicle type.
(1) The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is an assistance system and does not relieve the driver from his/her responsibility to safely operate the vehicle at any time. The driver still has to adapt his/her driving behaviour to his/her personal driving capabilities, to the legal requirements and to the overall road and traffic conditions. FCA is not designed to drive the vehicle autonomously. For further information, please refer to the owner’s manual.
