You might not have heard of HDA and HDP before, but Kia’s new range will quickly change that. If we’ve piqued your interest, then look no further. You’ve landed on the right page, where you can learn all about the new safety and convenience features that Kia has to offer.
With HDA 2 Highway Driving Assist you will be able to cruise comfortably whenever you hit the road. Whether you need help keeping a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you, changing lanes safely on rushed motorways, or centering your vehicle perfectly in your lane; the convenient driving function will be your second pair of eyes.
You can keep your hands on the steering wheel and use your indicator to signal your desire to switch lanes; the Lane Change Assist Feature will then safely maneuver the crossover for you.
If you happen to take your hands off the steering wheel, a visual and audible warning will remind you to stay focused and concentrated.
Aside from the incredible HDA 2 Features available across the Kia range, the EV9 will soon take a significant step toward full autonomy. Key to achieving this is Kia’s Highway Driving Pilot (HDP) system, which will provide the future EV9 with conditional Level 3 autonomous driving in selected markets.
That’s right, on top of helping you stay at a safe distance from vehicles ahead, assisting you with lane changing, and keeping your vehicle centered in your lane, the EV9 will take convenience to a whole new level by allowing you to take your hands off the steering wheel in certain situations.
You will then be able to safely enjoy taking your hands off the steering wheel while driving at a speed limit of up to 55km/h. Should you need to overtake the vehicle ahead of you, the car will alert you and can perform emergency maneuvers if any imminent collision risk occurs.
On the slim chance of a function failure, you will have to take control of the car . If you fail to take control, the EV9 will perform a minimum-risk maneuver – bringing your car to a safe and complete stop.
The EV9 is equipped with fifteen sensors, including two LiDAR scanners, which make it possible to scan for and detect objects, giving you a 360-degree field of view. This incredible safety feature makes it easy for your EV9 to detect and react to the hazards on the road and other less equipped drivers on the road – once again furthering the prevention of collisions and keeping you safe.
- EV6 is not equipped with HDP
- HDP is only exclusive to a few markets based on country regulations
- HDP text for most of the markets should be more about “the future” than an actual feature, since it will take a while until we can offer it in more markets.
