We describe over-the-air (OTA) as the capability that Kia vehicles have to receive software and map updates for the model automatically wirelessly, rather than needing to download and install them manually or having to visit a dealership to get them. This over-the-air technology allows Kia to deliver performance enhancements and new features, providing convenience and ensuring that vehicles stay up to date with the latest software and map improvements.

How to pair your phone with your Kia.
Get ready for an enhanced driving experience for the digital age and connect with your Kia like never before following these steps.

Download the app.
Download Kia Connect from your preferred app store.

Create an account.
Open the Kia Connect In-App Services and log in or create a new account.

Verify yourself.
Enter your phone number to receive a verification code, which you enter on the car's Dashboard to verify yourself.

Scan QR code.
With compatible vehicles, you can scan the QR code directly with the Kia Connect app in order to add the vehicle to your account. QR code can be found on your navigation screen. Alternatively, you can enter the VIN.

Link your device.
Now select “Verification Code” on the vehicle's Electronic Dashboard Unit, enter the visible verification code in your phone app and click “ok”.

You are all set.
Now your mobile device is paired to your car and you can access the features by tapping on “your vehicle” in the phone app.

Online navigation
Always know what’s ahead: Online navigation identifies the fastest route on every journey, by accessing cloud-based live and historic traffic data. Constantly updated information adjusts your route in real time and gives you an accurate estimated time of arrival.

Over-the-air (OTA)
To update the over-the-air (OTA) software in your Kia vehicle, follow these simple steps.
When a pop-up notification appears on the screen, accept it. This will initiate the download and subsequently proceed with the update.
After this, you will immediately gain access to the latest infotainment software and maps’ updates.
The initial two OTA updates are provided free of charge. For further updates you still have the option to update manually. This can be done manually via the Navigation Updates Portal or by visiting your nearest Kia dealer for assistance.

2 7 years of map updates The program is only valid for new Kia vehicles purchased after February 28, 2013 with factory installed LG navigation devices. Labour costs may be incurred at the service point for the time available to perform the update. The 7-year map update program offers six map updates, as Kia vehicles are already shipped ex works with the latest map available. The warranty of the navigation system is not affected by this program. Kia is not responsible for the quality of the card data supplied by the card data supplier HERE.
3 Kia Connect In-Car Services Information and control service for your Kia; the Services will be available free of charge for a period of seven years commencing on the day the vehicle is sold to the first owner of the vehicle, i.e. the point in time the initial purchase agreement becomes effective, and may be subject to change during that period. Details of operation and terms of use can be obtained from your Kia partner and on kia.com. Smartphone with iOS or Android operating system and mobile phone contract with data option necessary incurring additional cost.
4 All features in the section above are available in the latest version of Kia Connect In-App Services and Kia Connect In-Car Services. Depending on your Kia model and trim you might not have access to all of them.

For new vehicles sold from May 2021, Kia offers, per vehicle, two free-of-charge updates of the maps in the vehicle’s navigation system and of the Head Unit software using the so-called “over-the-air” method (“OTA Updates”).
